Rewrite depth measures how extensively the working copy diverges from the original while remaining model-neutral. It is not a watermark detector.
The browser uses a transparent proxy tokenizer: words, numbers, contractions, and punctuation. It does not know Claude's private tokenizer, watermark key, or detector.
——Surface divergence and rhetorical-family counts are diagnostics. They are intentionally not folded into Rewrite Depth until benchmark results justify a weighting. Higher values describe greater re-expression; they do not establish authorship or prove that any provenance signal has been removed.
Keep the judgment human.
Own Words is not a one-click paraphraser. It proposes lexical and structural alternatives, marks every automated change, and leaves the decision to you. The final language should be yours, not merely a second machine's version.
Everything happens in this page. There is no account, server-side rewrite, database, or AI API call containing your prose. Text processing is capped at 2,500 words and 20,000 characters per passage.
Rewrite depth measures linguistic re-expression using model-neutral token comparisons. It is descriptive, not a claim to defeat any particular watermark or detector.
